Review:

It took a long time coming but this sequel to the original was a worthy follow-up. There was no way that it could possibly have lived up to such high expectations but it came very close. The location pictures were not an advance on the original, it was, if anything, slower than the original, but it had the same imagination and style that marked the original as a classic. Following the plot of the book (the first part of the trilogy) closely, it was still different enough to provide a challenge to the Tolkien fan.

It even includes lots of bugs which was an enjoyable feature of the original, where finding them proved almost as much fun as completing the game. This was probably the most ambitious text adventure game ever to be written for the Spectrum and an absolute classic!
