Review:

The Hobbit was probably responsible for the sales of more memory chips and 48K Spectrums than any other game or serious program. If you were to be taken seriously as an adventurer then you had to have managed to escape from the Goblin's Dungeon.

Recognised as an absolute masterpiece when first released, no other adventure game has ever made as much impact on any computer. The interactive characters helped give the game a style all of its own, even if they tended to wander off and do their own thing. Even the bugs, and there were many, were highly entertaining and widely reported. A game that was ahead of its time and still holds a certain charm now. Sheer brilliance and a game that can be regarded as a milestone in computer history, let alone a fine Spectrum game!
